Deutschboden

Germany 2013 / Documentary / 90 minutes / Director: André Schäfer / Universal

After the novel of the same name by Moritz von Uslar

"Deutschboden" is a film by André Schäfer, freely adapted from Moritz von Uslar's long-term observation of the same name, "one of the best books about Germany after reunification!" (Süddeutsche Zeitung). German Film Critics Award 2014 for Best Documentary.

Out of hip West Berlin, into the wild East. That's where Moritz von Uslar wants to find him: the super chav. Jumper boots, beer, cigarette butt, saliva - the full range. But the city dweller gets to know the country and its people, the members of the rock band "5 Teeth Less" become his boys, and meatballs become his passion. And while we learn that body tuning such as waxing, tattoos and eyebrow trimming are serious business, the reporter realises: Germany is a great guy!

»I'm getting out of here, to where hardly anyone has ever been before – to Hardrockhausen.«
