Christine Nöstlinger

christine_noestlinger_webseite Born in Vienna in 1936, Christine Nöstlinger looks back on more than 40 years of literary work. With over 100 books, she is one of the most well-known and popular German-language authors of children's books. With her emancipated, self-determined image of children, she has heralded a new era in children's and young people's literature and since then has made so many children and adults laugh and reflect.

For her complete works Christine Nöstlinger has been awarded the international Hans Christian Andersen Award and the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, the world's most valuable prize for children's and youth literature.

»Christine Nöstlinger is an important leading figure for many of us and also for me. The fact that she began writing her books at the kitchen table at around 40, alongside marriage, bringing up children and household, has always given me perspective. As a woman with a political attitude and as an artist, she is a role model, a source of strength.«
