Germany. A Winter's Tale

Germany 2018 / Fiction / 125 minutes / Director: Jan Bonny / Suitable for 16 years and over

Outstanding German cinema by Jan Bonny

Germany in icy times and a right-wing extremist trio in madness. Jan Bonny's "Germany. A Winter's Tale" is a film that you absolutely have to watch! After the Cannes entry "Counterparts", the second feature film by the Cologne director was the only German entry in the International Competition at the Locarno Festival 2018 and received several awards at the German Film Critics Award 2019: Best Feature Film, Best Cinematography (Benjamin Loeb) and a special prize for the ensemble of actors Ricarda Seifried, Thomas Schubert and Jean-Luc Bubert.

"It's got to really blow up!" Becky's (Ricarda Seifried) and Tommy's (Thomas Schubert) relationship is dominated by gnawing boredom, frustration and dependence. Their cosmos in the dingy flat is tiny, their plans are big. Together they want to murder foreigners as a terror cell and create national attention! Suddenly Maik (Jean-Luc Bubert) is in the kitchen and the passive duo turns into an explosive threesome. But their alleged values such as honour, pride and loyalty become increasingly disorientated and their radicalism breaks all boundaries.
